ISO 500001

The effective running of any organisation requires effective management systems. They are designed to drive a consistent and structured application of best practice to achieve business objectives.

Energy management has cost reduction and improved environmental performance at its core.

Since 2011 over 10,000 organisations across the world have adopted 50001, the international Energy Management System (EnMS) to systematically manage energy consumption and costs.

At The EPC Group we believe this internationally recognised Standard provides the best framework to consistently drive down energy costs.

The architecture of the Standard is consistent with other ISO management standards including ISO 9001 (Quality) and ISO 14001 (Environment). Organisations with existing management systems do not have to re-invent them but use them for the application of ISO 50001.

Although the Standard provides the framework, its application will be different for every organisation. It provides a basis for year-on-year continual improvement and provides continuity when key staff move positions or leave the organisation.

The Standard provides a useful basis for raising employee awareness on energy issues and getting them engaged to save energy.

If your organisation had to comply with ESOS in 2015, you will know that the Environment Agency allows ISO 50001 certification as a route to compliance. The next round of ESOS is in 2019 so now is the ideal time to do a gap analysis for ISO 50001 to determine a route map for implementing ISO 50001.

Our consultants have in-depth experience of helping organisations to comply with ISO 50001.
